WSP has appointed Gavin Stonard as managing director for its water business in the UK and Ireland.

Stonard is strengthening WSP's senior leadership team as the industry enters a critical period of investment and delivery.

He brings more than 25 years’ experience across the UK water sector, with a background spanning consultancy, construction and client-side roles. He joins from Costain where he held senior roles in the water sector and was involved in collaborative delivery models, major programmes and innovation-led approaches to capital delivery.

His appointment comes as water companies prepare to deliver significant investment through Asset Management Period 8 (AMP8), with an increasing focus on resilience, environmental performance, asset optimisation and long-term customer outcomes.
