We champion infrastructure
ABOUT US
We’re the association for the UK’s professional consultancies and engineering companies operating in the social and economic infrastructure sectors.
The Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE) champions infrastructure and the built environment to government and other stakeholders, representing the views of over 300 members.
Our members employ over 60,000 in UK and 250,000 worldwide, contributing more than £15 billion to the UK economy. However, the buildings they create actively contribute over £570 billion a year of GVA.
They have worked on some of our most high-profile infrastructure to date: the Olympic Park, Crossrail, Tideway, HS1 & 2, the Queensferry Crossing and Heathrow.
WHAT IS CONSULTING ENGINEERING?

OUR VISION
Our vision is for the UK to be a world leader in sustainable infrastructure and the built environment, creating thriving economies and well-connected communities, where people and nature flourish together.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to be the trusted voice for the built environment sector, championing infrastructure, buildings and place. We help and represent everyone from start-ups to giant multinationals enabling them to thrive and build for the future.
Our members are ambitious and progressive. Through our campaigning and powerful networks, we connect members, policy makers and clients to lead change, develop opportunities and support their success. As the go-to organisation for government, we are regularly called upon for our members’ expertise on investment, value creation, strategic planning and decision-making.
OUR PURPOSE
Our purpose is to support the delivery of practical, long-term solutions to the UK’s most pressing environmental, building and infrastructure challenges. We advise and provide counsel to clients, government, and stakeholders, drawing on deep industry expertise, evidence-based insight and the strength of our member network.
From achieving climate resilience and restoring nature and biodiversity to enabling regional growth and enhancing productivity, we are focused on improving outcomes. We work alongside industry and government to drive sustainable progress that benefits both people and the planet.
HOW WE WORK
Our Board is responsible for the strategic direction and corporate development of the organisation and meets four times in a year. Members are representative of our membership body and a different chair is elected each year.
ACE’s groups and advisory councils provide our members with local networking opportunities, help establish our opinion and policy and explore interests of critical importance to our members’ business interests, no matter their size.
We also encourage the next generation of engineers through our Emerging Professionals group
The editorially independent magazine and website Infrastructure Intelligence, is produced by ACE for the industry.
Through our sister organisation, the Environmental Industries Commission (EIC), we are the voice of the green economy.
ACE is also a member of the Trade Association Forum (TAF), the UK’s leading association for trade associations.

OUR PEOPLE
Our enthusiastic team is dedicated to supporting our members and championing the built environment on their behalf.
