NEW DIRECTORS APPOINTED AT RAMBOLL

Global architecture, engineering and sustainability consultancy Ramboll has announced the appointment of two new directors.

Richard Graybrook has been named as aviation lead for the UK and Ireland, and Europe. Meanwhile Darren Carlile has been appointed head of growth and sales for buildings and sector lead for national security and government, research and polar.

Graybrook will lead Ramboll’s aviation business across the region with responsibility for major programmes and projects, driving innovation and embedding sustainability throughout project delivery.

He brings extensive experience in the aviation sector, having led multi-disciplinary teams and managing complex operations. He has a strong track record in delivering long-term operational strategies, as well as identifying innovative ways to design, develop, and deliver new processes.

Following service in the British Army, he later transitioned to the private sector, holding a series of senior leadership roles, most recently at Jacobs helping to grow its aviation business across Europe.

Neil Sansbury, managing director UK&I at Ramboll, said: “Richard’s experience in leadership roles in the aviation industry speaks for itself and I am confident that he will play a significant role in further strengthening Ramboll’s presence across the aviation sector, a priority area for the business.”

Darren Carlile brings more than 35 years of industry experience, including 24 years as a Royal Engineer officer in the British Army. He joins Ramboll from AECOM where, for the last nine years, he led the company’s defence and national security sector.

In this role he led the sector’s growth strategy, establishing AECOM as a Tier 1 multidisciplinary engineering services consultancy to the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD), the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and defence original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) globally, and US Visiting Forces in the UK.

His appointment follows the UK Government’s publication of the Strategic Defence Review (SDR) last year, ahead of the eagerly awaited10-year Defence Investment Plan.

Carlile will focus on consolidating Ramboll’s ongoing work with government departments, including the Falkland Islands Government, British Antarctic Survey, FCDO and the MoD. Key growth priorities include supporting the US Visiting Forces in the UK, Defence OEM’s, prime contractors and other government departments such as education and justice. His remit will also include supporting other nations undertaking research activities in Antarctica.

Jason Layfield, executive director – buildings at Ramboll,  said: “Darren’s leadership and depth of experience make him an important addition to Ramboll in the UK and Ireland. We have a strong track record of working with government departments on innovative projects around the world, and I look forward to working with Darren to build on those foundations.”
