Five councils are preparing to invite contractors to bid for places on the next generation of South West Wales' civil engineering framework, worth around £800m.

Operating for three years from 2027, with the option to extend for a further 12 months, Carmarthenshire County Council is leading the procurement in association with Ceredigion County Council, Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council, Pembrokeshire County Council and Swansea Council.

Natural Resources Wales, Powys County Council and CWM Environmental will also have the option to use the latest iteration of the framework.

The South West Wales Regional Civil Engineering Contractors Framework 2027 will cover everything from small civils jobs through to major £3m-plus developments along with specialist work. The framework will comprise:

• Very small civil engineering up to £75,000
• Small civils works worth up to £750,000
• Medium civils works from £750,000 to £3m
• Large civils works worth more than £3m
• Surfacing
• Street lighting and association electrical works
• Ground investigation
• Demolition
• Marine works
• Traffic management
• Lining and road markings
• Bridge maintenance and associated works
• Hard and soft landscaping and landscape maintenance

The tender notice is due to be published on 5 October with the deadline for submissions on 16 November. The award date will be in January 2027. Find out more here
