"WORLD'S MOST AMBITIOUS CLIMATE CHANGE TARGET"

Hannah Vickers responds to the Sixth Carbon Budget

Hannah Vickers, chief executive of the Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE) reacted to the setting of the Sixth Carbon Budget, described by the Prime Minister Boris Johnson as the "world's most ambitious climate change target."

“These ambitious new targets should be welcomed by all as a signal that the UK intends to lead by example. This is especially important given the fact the UK is hosting COP26 this winter. As highlighted in our research released towards the end of last year, there is still a disconnect between the high-level rhetoric and the detailed reality of policy implementation and more needs to be done to turn aspirations into tangible actions.

“The built environment sector stands ready to play a key role in delivering a carbon free future and our members are the partners of choice to work with all levels of government across the UK to make this political ambition a reality. Through initiatives like the CLC’s ConstructZero, we will lead the industry change to meet the revised target.”
