MACTECH DEPLOYS 2,000 WORKERS TO HINKLEY POINT C

Mactech Energy Group has successfully deployed 2,000 workers to Hinkley Point C, marking a major contribution to the delivery of the UK’s first new nuclear power station in a generation.

The company, a specialist recruitment firm and workforce solutions provider to the nuclear industry and other UK energy sectors, has been supporting the new nuclear plant in Somerset since 2017.

Mactech says reaching the 2,000 staff milestone reflects the “enormous scale” of the landmark project and its long-term commitment to developing and mobilising a highly skilled UK workforce “capable of delivering the country’s most complex and regulated infrastructure”.

At Hinkley Point C EDF Energy is building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in Britain providing zero-carbon electricity for around six million homes.

The site is demonstrating the power of new nuclear in driving growth - generating thousands of jobs and a £13bn pound boost for the British economy. It is supporting 26,000 direct and indirect jobs across Britain.

Over the last eight years Mactech has supported the project by supplying skilled personnel across critical scopes including welding, mechanical installation, high-pressure pipework, lifting operations, construction support and specialist nuclear roles. More than 99% of these workers have been sourced from within the UK, directly supporting domestic jobs, skills development and long-term workforce capability.

Andrew McFarlane, managing director at Mactech Energy Group, said “This month marks a major milestone for us: our 2,000th professional placed into the nuclear industry. Each placement represents safer sites, stronger teams, and a more resilient energy future.

“From our first placement to our 2,000th, one thing hasn’t changed: our commitment to finding the right people with the right skills for one of the world’s most critical industries - 2,000 careers supported, 2,000 contributions to the nuclear sector and we’re only getting started.”

Mactech continues to support the evolving workforce, screening and payroll requirements at Hinkley Point C and other major energy programmes across the UK, including nuclear, grid upgrades, renewable infrastructure and defence projects.
