ACE EMERGING PROFESSIONALS HAVE ANNOUNCED A NEW LEAD TO GROW THE NETWORK IN NORTHERN ENGLAND

Emma Scholes of Curtins outlines her plans to champion younger professionals in the North of England.

Emma Scholes, Senior Geo-Environmental Engineer at Curtins has been appointed as the lead for Northern England. She will champion younger professionals voice in the North and within the national committee of the network for the next generation of industry leaders working in the built environment.

Formed to help the emerging generation of consultants and engineers working in the natural and built environments, ACE Emerging Professionals provides networking and career development opportunities across the UK.

Emerging Professionals' members come from a broad range of consultancy and engineering disciplines, including: civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineers, sustainability and environmental consultants, project managers, and cost consultants. They, of course, include representatives from ACE member companies.

Speaking on her plans for the Northern Region, Emma said:

I’m really excited to be stepping into the role of Chair for the Northern Emerging Professionals Committee. It’s such an exciting region to be representing, full of really inspiring young professionals, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to lead this group.

We’ve taken this opportunity to reset and refresh, and I’m excited to see where we can take the committee. I look forward to supporting our members with their individual inputs into the ACE key initiatives (for example, sustainability, ED&I), as well as encouraging regional activities and events.

Our biggest challenge is keeping a community feel for members of the committee when we’re spread across such a large area – but we are actively trying to create local hubs to get smaller groups together, and have plans for expanding on this in the future.

I’m also really looking forward to working alongside the ACE North-West committee, and we already have some really exciting collaborations in the pipeline.”

Emerging Professionals currently living or working in Northern England who are interested in getting involved in this growing movement, can get in touch here.
