What does your job involve?  Design and input for schemes incorporating highways, drainage, earthworks and flood risk. I am also involved in large scale masterplanning typically required for regeneration schemes. 

What do you enjoy most about your job?  The masterplanning component of my role allows me to interact with all sorts of stakeholders and disciplines which often gives me a unique perspective towards the engineering challenges associated with regeneration. 

How did you get into this career?  I wanted to work in the construction sector but in a design role, I never really knew how that would materialise but I felt Civil Engineering had the broadest scope so that is where i chose to get my degree.

Have you got any advice for others looking to pursue a similar career?  Always be innovative and never accept that just because something has been right before that it is right now. Approaching things with an open mind means that you can always be open to challenge the norm.
