ACE WELCOMES PLAN FOR NORTH WALES HYNET CLEAN ENERGY JOBS SURGE

ACE Group today welcomed the expansion of the HyNet carbon capture cluster, as two new projects enter negotiations, securing 800 skilled jobs and driving a major step forward for Britain’s clean energy future.

With construction of the Liverpool Bay CO₂ network now underway, the latest boost brings total direct jobs supported by HyNet to 2,800 across roles in engineering, construction and advanced manufacturing.

HyNet will capture and store up to 4.5 million tonnes of CO₂ annually, the equivalent of removing two million cars from UK roads, and power up to 900,000 homes with clean, homegrown energy.

Gary Davies, ACE Wales Group Chair, said: “This is a transformative moment for Wales. We’re delighted to see the Connah’s Quay Low Carbon Power project moving forward as part of this next phase for HyNet.

“This is a flagship development for North Wales, delivering clean, reliable energy for up to 900,000 homes, while capturing harmful emissions and helping us tackle climate change head-on. It’s a vital step in building a more secure, low-carbon energy system that works for families, businesses and future generations.”

ACE Group comprises the Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE) and the Environmental Industries Commission (EIC).
