Laing O’Rourke has signed the contract with Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust (CHFT) to double the size of Calderdale Royal Hospital (CRH) and improve healthcare in the area.
Due for completion in 2029, the new hospital will have a new emergency department, with a dedicated children’s emergency department and eight new wards. Once open, CRH will provide all unplanned (acute) services, with all planned care being located at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary (HRI).
CHFT is investing £196.5m into its estate across CRH and HRI.
Laing O’Rourke’s managing director, Peter Lyons, said: “We’re proud to be involved in this project and to deliver it using our pioneering industrialised construction methods to reduce the manual strain on our people while delivering certainty and quality for our terrific partners at the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust.”
