Kier has secured two additional early contractor involvement (ECI) contracts from Southern Water under its AMP8 Strategic Delivery Partner Framework.
The combined value of the contracts is £28.8m – with the news coming after the company announced in August it had secured its first contracts with Southern Water.
The first award, Priority Water Treatment Works Growth - Bundle 4 (wastewater), is valued at £23.5m and covers seven Water Treatment Works: Billingshurst, Dymchurch, Goddards Green, Ham Hill, Northfleet, Sidlesham and Stockbridge.
These upgrades will enhance capacity and resilience to meet future demand and support population growth. Kier will work with Southern Water to develop innovative, low-carbon solutions that deliver the best value and reduce environmental impact.
The second award, Nitrate Removal Schemes - Batch 1 (water), is valued at £5.3m and encompasses four Water Supply Works: Madehurst, Patching, Mossy Bottom, and Patcham.
Kier will develop and optimise solutions to lower nitrate levels in accordance with regulatory standards, ensuring compliance with drinking water quality regulations. The ECI phase will concentrate on design progression, constructability, and programme certainty ahead of the main construction phase.
Andy Beech, framework director at Kier, said: “We are pleased to secure these additional ECI contracts with Southern Water. This reflects the trust our client places in Kier to deliver projects in both clean and wastewater sectors. Our teams will bring extensive technical expertise and a collaborative approach to ensure these projects generate long-term value for Southern Water and its customers."
This award further reinforces Kier Natural Resources, Nuclear and Networks’ position as a key delivery partner nationwide in the UK water sector, following recent AMP8 contract wins and renewals with Yorkshire Water, Wessex Water, United Utilities, Anglian Water and Severn Trent.
