Kier has secured a £139m contract with Severn Trent to upgrade Wanlip Sewage Treatment Works in Leicestershire.
Set to serve 750,000 residents and designed to meet growing demand and tighter environmental standards, the project will significantly enhance treatment performance, improve water quality and increase the site’s long-term resilience – which is Severn Trent’s third-largest wastewater treatment facility.
Delivered in close collaboration with Severn Trent and specialist delivery partners, the project builds on a successful early contractor involvement phase, during which enabling works and detailed design development were completed. The project starts this summer and is planned to be completed in 2028.
Andy Lingham, managing director of water within Kier Natural Resources, Nuclear and Networks, said: “This is a significant project for Severn Trent, and we’re pleased to be bringing our expertise to help deliver it.
“Our relationship spans more than 20 years, and this is one of many projects we’ll be delivering in this AMP8 cycle. Collaboration will be key to making it a success, with all parties co-located in our new welfare village, working together to ensure safe, efficient, and successful delivery.”
