SHAPING THE FUTURE OF TRANSPORT OBJECTIVES

ACE CONTRIBUTES TO TRANSPORT SELECT COMMITTEE INQUIRY ON STRATEGIC TRANSPORT OBJECTIVES

The Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE) has responded to an ongoing committee inquiry into strategic transport objectives, showcasing the contributions of ACE members in shaping the future of transport planning, investment, and infrastructure development in the UK.

A Holistic Approach to Transport Planning:

The ongoing inquiry delves into how the UK Government establishes strategic transport objectives and how these objectives influence investment decisions, cross-government planning, and infrastructure development. ACE's engagement with this inquiry showcases the industry's commitment to driving effective change in the transport sector.

ACE Members Perspective:

ACE members have provided nuanced and comprehensive insights into various aspects of the inquiry. The Association's submission sheds light on several critical aspects that influence the effectiveness of transport planning:

1. Articulating Clear Objectives: ACE members emphasise the importance of well-defined, quantifiable objectives for the UK Government's strategic transport vision. Clarity in objectives ensures a shared understanding among stakeholders and facilitates informed decision-making.

2. Multi-Modal Considerations: ACE members highlight the significance of a multi-modal approach, underscoring that transport planning should transcend individual modes. An integrated perspective takes into account the interdependencies of different modes, fostering synergies and more balanced investments.

3. The Impact of Clear Objectives: ACE's submission explores the potential of well-articulated objectives to enhance clarity, optimise investments, streamline cross-government collaboration, unleash synergistic solutions, and future-proof infrastructure. Clear objectives are instrumental in building public trust and bolstering confidence in transport planning.

4. Long-Term Vision: ACE members advocate for a forward-looking perspective in setting transport objectives. This approach anticipates future needs and technological advancements, ensuring that investments remain relevant and adaptable.

Shaping Sustainable and Connected Transport:

ACE's contributions to the inquiry align with the Association's mission to promote excellence in the built and natural environment. By offering insights drawn from years of experience in engineering, consultation, and project management, ACE is steering the conversation toward a well-connected, sustainable, and efficient transport network.

The consultation response serves as a catalyst for transformative change in transport planning and investment. As the inquiry progresses, the insights shared by ACE will play a pivotal role in shaping policy decisions that have far-reaching impacts on the nation's transportation landscape.
