CAN VERTICAL EXTENSIONS SOLVE THE HOUSING CRISIS?

Against the backdrop of ever-growing demand for housing and an amassed housing deficit, the UK's construction industry is tasked with the formidable job of meeting the Government’s target of 300,000 homes a year.

Additional challenges arise from the UK’s commitment to Net Zero emissions by 2050, meaning potential ‘housing crisis’ solutions must be sustainable and energy efficient.

One way that construction can respond to this is through the adaptation of existing infrastructure, including vertical extension of buildings.

In this lunchtime webinar, ACE Emerging Professionals London and South East, hosts a presentation from Charles Gillott, who is researching a PhD exploring the potential for sustainable housing provision through vertical extension, and to understand stakeholder perceptions and uncover potential enablers for its widespread adoption.
