Andrew Went

Role: Executive Director of Engineering, Technical and Safety   Company: East West Railway Company 

Andrew is a senior UK rail engineering leader with extensive experience delivering major infrastructure programmes. He is currently Engineering, Technical and Safety Executive Director at East West Railway Company, where he leads engineering strategy, technical assurance and safety for one of the UK’s most significant rail projects.

Previously, Andrew spent nearly eight years at Arup in senior leadership roles, including Head of Rail Engineering and UKIMEA Rail Business Leader, overseeing multidisciplinary teams and shaping rail engineering strategy across complex projects. He is recognised for his systems-based approach, strong industry leadership, and contribution to the wider rail sector, including board-level involvement with the Railway Industry Association.
