ACE Awards / Holly's experience

Holly's experience

Name: Holly Sutherland   Company: Ingleton Wood   Award: Best Sustainability Project

What did winning the award mean for you and your team (Was it a moment of pride, recognition, validation, or something else?)  A real moment of pride and validation for the whole team involved in the project which reaffirmed that our collaborative, sustainability-led approach genuinely made a meaningful and positive impact involved for those involved and associated.

Take us back to the moment you found out you’d won — how did it feel? (What was the reaction in the room or within the team?) A genuine (and very welcome!) surprise for everyone involved in the project!

What did you enjoy most about the Awards Gala dinner? (Meeting people from industry/the guest speaker/the venue/the celebration) The opportunity to engage in person with both fresh and familiar faces from across the industry and host Spencer Kelly was great.

What do you think really made your project stand out to the judges? (What part of the work are you most proud of?) The way this project (The Camden Roundhouse) balances meaningful carbon and energy performance improvements, while protecting the character and aesthetic of what is an iconic building.

What’s been the biggest benefit of winning an ACE Award for you or your organisation? (Confidence, visibility, team morale, new opportunities, etc.) It boosted team morale and provided wider visibility to the kind of thoughtful, collaborative and sustainable work Ingleton Wood are passionate about delivering.

Why do awards like ACE matter for the engineering and consultancy profession? (What do they help celebrate, showcase, or encourage?) They help showcase innovation, collaboration, and highlight the positive impact our profession and industry has on our communities and the wider built environment.

What would you say to someone who’s thinking about entering the ACE Awards but isn’t sure yet? (Any reassurance, tips, or encouragement?) Go for it! It’s a great opportunity to reflect on work and celebrate a job well done – along with showcasing your expertise and passion to the wider industry.

In one sentence: why should others enter the ACE Awards? Because great projects deserve to be celebrated and shared
