Working alongside Transport for London, WSP  effectively managed a complex programme of upgrades to London’s historic tube network.

The programme provided faster, more frequent and more reliable journeys for passengers travelling on the deep-level Tube lines - Piccadilly, Bakerloo, Central and Waterloo & City.

It also coincided with an overhaul for the design of London’s underground rail stock, bringing the historic design firmly into the 21st Century.

Not only will this mean greater capacity and more comfortable journeys, but it will also improve access and customer safety thanks to the implementation of walk-through carriages and wider doors.

This was all made possible thanks to an innovative approach to project management led by WSP.

Through effective use of early-stage collaboration – a relatively novel approach in the rail sector – WSP have been able to liaise with various stakeholders around project requirements.

Similarly, this has enabled effective communication between delivery teams, promoting interdisciplinary problem-solving.

This whole-system approach has, in turn, allowed the client to make far more robust decisions about the future of the programme.
