Leadership opportunities
We are seeking expressions of interest in chairing and vice chairing Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE) and Environmental Industries Commission (EIC) groups.
Chairing allows you to bring your expertise to make a positive difference in setting the industry agenda and our lobbying activity. It also allows you to build your personal profile and that of your company, and represent ACE or EIC through the media and directly to government. See more details on the benefits of being a chair of group.

What is the time commitment?
Most groups have a minimum of three meetings each year. The format includes roundtable discussions with key stakeholders (government officials, clients and other experts) plus time for member discussion and agreement of priorities. Meetings typically last 1-2 hours with a mix of in person, teams, and hybrid.
Chairs and vice chairs also attend pre and post meeting calls with the secretariat team to prepare for, develop forward plans, and share feedback after meetings. You may also support consultation responses on relevant issues and join ad-hoc consultation drop-in-calls.
Vice chairs offer advice and support to chairs – they may be interested in chairing in future, or be a former chair, continuing to support the group and ensure continuity. Some vice chairs prefer not to chair but still want to share their expertise and support as vice chairs. Vice chair roles bring important diversity of perspective and voice and add resilience if chairs are unable to attend some meetings.
Chairs also sit on either the ACE or EIC Advisory Group (depending on whether the group chaired is ACE or EIC led), which help develop the overall strategy of the organisation, and each group meets four times a year. Vice chairs may be asked to substitute for a chair when they are not available to attend an Advisory Group meeting.
Chairs of the two Advisory Groups are elected by the members of the group, for which you can also put yourself forward. The chair of the EIC Advisory Group acts as the overall EIC chair, and the ACE Advisory Group chair is the chair of ACE Group as a whole – both of these representatives sit on the ACE Group Board.
