Engineering consultants WSP have announced the appointment of a new chief information officer (CIO) for the UK and South Africa.
Lesley Hume joins the firm from her role as chief operating officer at the government’s Cabinet Office where she has been positioned since 2008.
She was a senior responsible owner for a number of large cross government programmes, Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO) working closely with National Security Secretariat and Joint Intelligence.
She brings a wealth of experience to the role with over 20 years of experience in both the public and private sector. Her career has encompassed a wide range of digital and senior leadership roles across central and local government and the engineering consultancy and oil and gas sector. Hume has also previously worked as group information services director at Atkins.
Her role at WSP will be a member of the global IT leadership team, where she will be managing the IT strategy and computer systems for the UK and South Africa and tasked with reporting into UK CEO Mark Naysmith and global CIO Gino Poulin.
