KEEPING YOUR COMPANY ON TOP OF NEW ‘RIGHT TO WORK’ RULES

A special member-only webinar hosted in partnership with the Home Office’s immigration policy team on Tuesday 5 April 2022 will unpick forthcoming changes to the immigration points-based system and checks and help ACE and EIC members understand what will soon be expected of them as employers.

The changes to the system will take effect from 6 April 2022 ushering in a new digital system to confirm migrants who have a standard work or residence permit and also British and Irish citizens’ right to work.

With the temporary adjustments on right-to-work checks introduced owing to Covid-19 ending and the Home Office advising that businesses and individuals could be liable for up to £20,000 in fines if found guilty of employing someone who does not have the right to work in the UK, it is vital that employers understand the new legislation in detail.

Joining Claire Clifford, director of people, skills and culture at ACE, at the webinar will be Carrie Golding head of external engagement and John Harrison, policy manager – right to work, compliant environment and enforcement unit, at the Home Office. The webinar is open to anyone working for an ACE or EIC member firm.

Claire Clifford said: “Given the change in approach and the scale of potential fines – for companies and individuals – we felt it was important to invite the Home Office to speak directly to our members. These changes are just around the corner and come into effect the day after our webinar, so attendance is the best way of ensuring your company is on top of this new approach. I look forward to seeing you there.”
