HS2 ANNOUNCES MORE APPRENTICE ROLES AS UK CELEBRATES NATIONAL APPRENTICESHIP WEEK

HS2’s commitment to creating Skills for Life – the theme for this year’s National Apprenticeship Week –  has been reinforced as it confirmed more apprenticeship jobs will be created.

More than 1,400 people, of all ages and backgrounds, have already secured an HS2 apprenticeship and are on track to boost their career.

Recruitment has opened for 19 new roles with HS2, with more apprenticeships set to be created in the weeks and months ahead with HS2’s stations and civils construction partners.

The first round of jobs to be advertised include Level 3 and Level 4 opportunities with HS2’s project management, cyber security, customer service and quality practitioner teams.

Karen Davis, head of talent and development at HS2, said: “We’re extremely proud of our apprenticeship programme, which is carefully developed to ensure every candidate benefits from a varied programme of work experience, learning and study.

“If you’re just starting out in your career, or looking for a complete change in direction, an HS2 apprenticeship could set you on track for a promising future.”

The Government-run National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) is taking place from February 5-11 and is an opportunity for the education and skills sector to celebrate the achievements of apprentices around the country and the positive impact they make to communities, businesses and the wider economy.

This year’s campaign theme - Skills For Life - reflects on how becoming an apprentice can help develop an individual’s skills required for a new career while also helping businesses develop a highly talented workforce.

HS2 has teamed up with training providers across the country to ensure every apprentice benefits from a high standard of education and training in their chosen subject area.

Their learning is enhanced through hands-on work experience in HS2’s headquarters, satellite offices and 350 live construction sites where they work alongside and learn from some of the very best in the industry.

Apprenticeships enable HS2 to invest in a workforce that will learn, grow and develop new skills so they can go on to play a leading role in major infrastructure projects of the future.

HS2’s latest apprenticeship vacancies are open to anyone who has achieved, or is expected to achieve, five GCSEs at grade 4 minimum, including English and Maths, or equivalent.

Candidates have until March 18 to submit their application.
