Suffering from decades of under-investment, cities like Leeds, Sheffield, Newcastle and Hull form the economic hubs of this region which covers a large and diverse geographic area.
ACE Northern has a long history of involvement in the region, working with cities and local authorities to make the case for local investment. As the Northern Powerhouse gains traction both locally and in Westminster, the group will have a key role to play in helping to formulate arguments for even greater investment and creating innovative yet tangible solutions to the region’s infrastructure needs.
Members will need to actively ensure that the powerhouse isn’t lop-sided in favour of its ambitious and vocal neighbours in the North West, and ACE Northern has a key role to play in making the arguments for greater connectivity across the North, so all cities can benefit.
The group meets quarterly in cities across the region and companies interested in attending are encouraged to get in touch. Members include representatives of the following ACE member companies AMP Consultants, Arup, Curtins, DTA Consulting Engineers, Gleeds, Hoare Lea, Jacobs, Mott MacDonald, Stantec, WYG and WSP.
The Chair is Neil Parkinson of Curtins.
