The Welsh government will invest over £1.3 billion in infrastructure projects across the country this financial year, it has been revealed.
Despite the UK government making cuts to the Welsh government's capital budget over the next four years by 42.6 per cent in real terms, significant funds have been pledged to construct new hospitals, schools and other key developments.
First minister of Wales, Carwyn Jones said: "Despite the UK government's decision to cut the money available to us to invest in new schools, hospitals, roads and other major projects, I am absolutely determined to ensure that the government I lead invests in our national infrastructure.
"This clearly shows that we are investing in major projects that are benefitting the Welsh economy."
In March, the Welsh Government gave a report on how current major construction projects were progressing in 2011-12, with these capital investments set to reach approximately £780 million this financial year.
The largest share of the pot was spent on health and social services, followed by transport and education.
