Vinci Construction closing in on Jaguar car plant work

Reports are indicating that Vinci Construction is closing in on the contract to develop Jaguar Land Rover's Solihull plant with a major update planned.

The firm are favourites to land the project which will see a brand-new manufacturing facility built at the firm's West Midlands base, according to the Construction Enquirer.

Vinci Construction will be expected to develop a new car assembly plant at Lode Lane, with the work beginning with the extensive demolition of 400,000 sq ft of existing factory space.

The plans for a two-storey plant, covering 1.2m sq ft, were first unveiled in April, but these have since changed, with a single storey facility now planned with a floor plate measuring 600,000 sq ft.

Vinci Construction has enjoyed a excellent year, with the firm reporting a record order book that was up nine per cent at £26 billion on June 30th, compared with figures for December 2011.
