Two new applications for developing wind farms in Scotland have been submitted to the government.
The Stronelairg and Bhlaraidh (previously known as Balmacaan) wind farms will have a joint installed capacity of 400MW.
SSE is the company behind the proposals and it has issued a 'statement of intent' alongside the plans to outline the benefits it wants to bring to the local community, including the creation of apprenticeships and skills opportunities for young people in the Highlands.
Commenting on the developments, SSE's director of onshore renewables David Gardner said: "We believe that, following many months of working closely with key consultees, we have refined our proposals for both Bhlaraidh and Stronelairg and have come up with extremely well-designed and sensitively-sited projects."
Last month, the Scottish government turned down an application for a 77.5MW facility in Caithness on the basis that it would have a negative impact on people in the local area.
