Financial close has been achieved on two health centres in Cumbria with a combined project value of £19 million.
As a result, work will now start this month on a new £12.5 million community hospital and health centre in Cockermouth - replacing the existing 100-year-old facility - and a new £6.5 million health centre in Cleator Moor.
The funding is being provided by eLIFT Cumbria and the projects will be delivered through the NHS Express Local Improvement Finance Trust programme.
Commenting on the project, Ken Gill, managing director of Sweett Group's PPP/PFI investments business, said: "We are very proud to be working with local businesses and our partners to help to deliver healthcare services that meet the needs of the residents of West Cumbria."
With construction work beginning this month, Cockermouth Hospital should be completed by autumn 2013, while the health centre in Cleator Moor will be ready by late spring 2013.
