Global construction group Skanska has been awarded a £50 million contract to build a commercial building in the City of London.
The firm's UK unit will immediately begin working on the 16-storey tower, which is due to be completed in autumn of 2013.
In a bid to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating, Skanska will incorporate sustainable technologies such as rainwater harvesting systems, a condensing boiler and electronically commutated motors on fan coils.
Paul Heather, managing director of Skanska's London and south-east operating unit told Construction Inquirer: "Credit must be given to all parties involved in this project for their persistence over the past months to ensure we have reached contract award.
"We look forward to working with Fletcher Priest Architects and Waterman Structures/Services to deliver this BREEAM excellent building during 2013."
The client for the development project is the Bevis Marks Development group, which comprises AXA Real Estate, MGPA and Eurohypo.
