Construction work on a new footbridge in Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex, is expected to begin at the start of August this year.
The £9.8 million walkway will provide a pedestrianised link between both parts of Shoreham across the River Adur estuary.
Funding for the project is being provided by West Sussex County Council and sustainable transport charity Sustrans.
Due to start earlier this year, the scheme was delayed by some technical and commercial issues, but these have now been sorted and Osborne will get work underway in the summer.
"It's fantastic news that … work can now begin on re-establishing this vital link in Shoreham, which allows many more local journeys to be made without the need for a car," said Simon Pratt, Sustrans regional director for the south east.
Dr Tommy Chambers, managing director of Osborne's civil engineering team, added: "The new footbridge will be a great asset to Shoreham."
Following a 45-week build, the footbridge will open to the public during the summer of 2013.
