Proposals submitted for 55-storey south London tower

Developers Guildhouse UK and Rosepride Properties have submitted their proposals to build a new 55-storey tower block in south London.

The companies have handed in their plans for a new £350 million high rise development in Croydon to the local council.

Dubbed One Lansdowne Road, the development will include a 217-bedroom hotel, 397 residential apartments, 160,000 square feet of office space, food outlets and a health club.

David Hudson, Guildhouse's chief executive, claimed that the proposals will complement the existing regeneration strategy for the Croydon town centre.

He said: "As one of the largest London boroughs, Croydon is an area with a huge amount of potential. It benefits from exceptional transport links that make it an ideal location for regeneration and development."

Croydon Council will make a decision on the planning application in January, with construction scheduled to start in 2013 if approval is granted.
