  Profiling the risk

Capita Symonds and ACE have joined forces to deliver the annual Capita Symonds/ACE health and safety lecture on Wednesday 6 October 2010.

This year’s lecture will be presented by Health and Safety Executive chair Judith Hackitt CBE. It is entitled Profiling the Risk – determining what is really important and what is not in project management and consulting.

Judith follows in the footsteps of previous distinguished presenters of this high profile lecture including then Lord Chief Justice Lord Woolf; Sir John Cullen, then chairman of the Health and Safety Commission and Ian Tyler, chief executive of Balfour Beatty.

The lecture explores what is required to ensure sustained good performance without complacently falling into over-bureaucracy and a tick-box mentality.  This theme is very much in keeping with the recent announcement by the Prime Minister that there is to be a review of the burden of health and safety on industry.

It promises to be a positive and proactive look at a highly relevant and topical issue. It will be in-keeping with the long-standing tradition of the lecture which is to inform, challenge and progress the understanding and appreciation of the value of health and safety within UK industry, particularly within building and civil engineering.

Whatever your views are on health and safety, the lecture and subsequent open discussion are the ideal opportunity to share mutual experiences, concerns and aspirations. As in previous years, Judith’s presentation will inspire vibrant and challenging debate, discussion and no doubt argument. Capita Symonds and ACE look forward to welcoming you to the lecture and hearing your contribution.
