Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers has received unanimous approval to build a new £50 million multi-purpose development.
Steve Morgan, the head of construction firm Redrow Homes and chairman of Wolves, has brokered the deal which will result in the development of the Wolves Football Academy, as well as a new secondary school and 55 luxury houses.
Redrow will acquire the Compton Park campus of the University of Wolverhampton and use the land to build the housing development and hand over the rest to St Edmund's Catholic School, as well as making a £2.45 million donation.
The educational institution will also receive £2.5 million from Wolves for its existing school site and £7.9 million from the Building Schools for the Future fund.
Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey, said: "We will continue to listen and work with members of the local community as we move our plans forwards over the coming months.
"Assuming we receive the final approvals to proceed, work on-site will start with the construction of the new St Edmund's Catholic School in April next year."
The new training complex, which will include indoor and floodlit football pitches, will be based on the former site of St Edmund's Catholic School.
