New hospital set to be built in Shropshire

Work on a new hospital and two GP surgeries in Shropshire is set to begin early next year.

Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust chose Amber Infrastructure as its preferred bidder for the £27 million project ahead of two other companies, including Rydon Group subsidiary Ryhurst.

The Ludlow Eco Park site will house a 7,000 sq m community hospital as well as two GP practices upon its completion in 2014.

Jo Chambers, Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust chief executive, said: "There has been an immense amount of work that has taken place so far to get us to this position.

"Amber Infrastructure will be joining us as the preferred partner to help take the project on to the next level and to make a brand new hospital and GP practices for the people of Ludlow and south west Shropshire a reality."

The Ludlow Eco Park is the first part of a £75 million framework to build healthcare buildings in Shropshire.
