The shortlist for this year’s prestigious NCE/ACE Outstanding
Achievement prize, to be presented at the Consultants of the Year
lunchtime event at Mayfair’s Claridge’s restaurant on Friday 20 March,
has been announced.
BDP's Chantelle Stewart has been nominated for her work with the
Guerilla Lighting initiative in Ireland. She has been joined by the
Buro Happold team that worked on the Advanced Manufacturing Reseach
Centre at the University of Sheffield and Lynden Cable, an engineer
with WYG is the third name on the shortlist for his work in promoting
engineering in Yorkshire and Humberside.
Nelson Ogunshakin, chief executive of the Association for
Consultancy and Engineering, said that amongst the current hard times
being suffered by firms in the sector were reasons to believe
consultancy and engineering is in good hands. “As consultancy and
engineering grits its teeth and endeavours to move into the next decade
with confidence and optimism, we should be encouraged by the sheer
depth of proficiency in our sector."
Along with the NCE/ACE Young Consultant of the Year, the Outstanding
Achievement of the Year Award is given for work which has risen above
and beyond the norm and is presented to a team or individual deserving
of special recognition. In 2008, it was won by the special projects
group of ACE member firm Parsons Brinckerhoff for its work over the
last decade in researching new technologies within the company’s
bridges division – work which resulted in saving PB’s clients millions
of pounds and providing the consultancy and engineering industry with a
number of new techniques now adopted as industry best practice in the
UK and abroad.
