Swansea City is hoping to expand the Liberty Stadium in order to make the most of the club's Premier League status.
The proposals are for an extra 11,500 seats to be added to the current facility, giving 32,000 fans the chance to watch Premier League action, Wales Online reports.
By avoiding a return to the Championship last season the club has put itself in pole position to benefit from a lucrative new TV deal which would provide the capital needed for the £15 million project.
However, chairman Huw Jenkins says the club will monitor the team's progress next season before giving the project the green light.
"Looking at timescales to start work, we would need to see how we are going after January 2013 and we can start moving and put some dates in," he told the news provider.
"But it will hinge on us being competitive and staying in the Premier League next season. That is our ultimate aim."
Last month, Chelsea's attempt to turn Battersea Power Station into its new home was thwarted by another bidder.
