Michelle McDowell has been recognised as the First Woman of Property at the First Women Awards. The awards are held in association with Lloyds Banking Group and supported by the CBI and Real Business.
The citation for Michelle said: “Michelle is the first ever female chair of the Association for Consultancy and Engineering. She is also a company director at BDP – the largest interdisciplinary practice of architects, designers, engineers and urbanists in Europe – where she leads the company’s civil and structural engineering group. Michelle has over 25 years experience in the engineering profession and has worked on many award-winning projects, including the Royal Albert Hall and the BBC’s offices.”
Nelson Ogunshakin OBE, ACE chief executive, said: “I am delighted to congratulate Michelle on winning this award. It is recognition of her major contribution to construction and her commitment to the engineering sector. This is a well-deserved award that comes after Michelle being honoured in the Queen’s Birthday list.”
