Liverpool FC has decided to revert to its original plans for the club's new home at Stanley Park, eight years after planning permission was first granted in 2004.
The proposed 60,000-seat stadium would cost around £300million and be situated next door to their current home at Anfield.
The original plans were put on hold when Tom Hicks and George Gillett took over the club and drafted new plans for the Stanley Park venue.
However, they could not raise the necessary capital and have since left the club. Now, new owner John Henry has rekindled the original design concept and is looking for sponsors to put up £150 million so that construction work can begin.
Thankfully for the club, the previous owners had actually begun preparatory work on the site, which means that the club have avoid being penalised for missing any deadlines as construction is deemed to have been started, according to the Telegraph.
