The University of Strathclyde's £89 million Technology and Innovation Centre is set to go ahead after Lend Lease was appointed to deliver the project.
The triangular centre, located in Glasgow city centre, will provide a base for university staff and their industrial partners for their work in a number of sectors including power and energy, health and advanced engineering.
Open plan offices, three lecture theatres and space for laboratories will be developed on the 25,900m brownfield city centre site over an 87-week period.
Lend Lease executive director, Michael Dyke, revealed that ten per cent of the workers recruited for the project will be new to the construction sector.
He said: "We are particularly excited about working with the University of Strathclyde to bring economic, sustainable benefit to the local community through the involvement of small businesses, social enterprise groups and employment of new entrants to construction."
The facility will be the main hub of the International Technology and Renewable Energy Zone, Scotland's centre for global green energy developments.
