  Large-scale development planned for Horsham

Plans for a large-scale development in Horsham, West Sussex have been revealed by a local paper.

The County Times reports that up to 4,500 new homes could be built on green field land to the north of the town – increasing the population by a quarter and creating 4,000 jobs.

Adam Walker of Crickmay Chartered Surveyors, which has submitted its proposals to Horsham District Council, told the paper that the plans are "the solution to what the council wants to see".

Mr Walker added that the decision now lies with the authorities.

"There is no more we can do – ultimately the Government has to support it," he said.

As well as houses, a new hospital, railway station, supermarket, leisure facilities and a secondary school are all in the pipeline.

According to the County Times, 12 major land owners are involved and the project is being backed by a multi-billion pound American-owned development company.
