Infrastructure to be addressed at summit

The UK Trade and Investment Infrastructure Summit is being held at Lancaster House in London today (August 8th).

Business leaders will gather at the event to discuss issues in the construction, water, airports and rail sectors.

Chief secretary to the treasury Danny Alexander will be among those attending the summit and he is expected to address the progress being made under the UK Guarantees scheme announced back in July.

Other speakers at the event will include the chairman of the Olympic Delivery Authority, Sir John Armitt, who will talk about the urban regeneration of the Olympic Park and environment secretary Caroline Spelman, who will be discussing how British firms can help other nations tackle water issues.

"London's Olympic Park is a clear example of British ingenuity, where rainwater harvesting capabilities, the wastewater treatment plant and water efficient fixtures and fittings reduce the Park's dependence on potable water by 65 per cent," she said.
