Businesses in Hammersmith are set to significantly benefit from a new development in the area, according to the local council.
Hammersmith and Fulham council has given approval for a £110 million project which will demolish and redevelop a dated town hall extension and its surrounds with a new public square.
Joint developers Grainger and Helical Bar will also oversee the construction of 290 homes, a new Waitrose store, retail units and a cinema as part of the King Street Regeneration project.
Councillor Mark Loveday, the council's cabinet member for strategy, said: "It is good news for businesses in and around King Street that will get an economic shot in the arm when the project is complete.
"It is good news for people who are hoping to get onto the property ladder. And it is good news for taxpayers who will not need to find £18 million to refurbish the ugly town hall extension."
The new modern town hall building is expected to save the council around £150,000 in reduced energy costs.
