Gary Neville forced to ditch turbine plans

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has been forced to submit new proposals for his Bolton eco-home after complaints from neighbours.

The former Manchester United and England defender has dropped plans for a large wind turbine to power the 'Tellytubby' mansion - so called because its design mirrors the home lived in by the fictional TV characters.

However, after making amendments to the proposals, while still retaining the home's eco-focus, the footballer's new neighbours have now given their consent for the project to go ahead and planning permission is being sought from the council.

"Earlier in the year, we met with local residents and confirmed an alternative method of construction was being explored, which would enable the house to achieve a higher standard of sustainability, whilst also enabling the proposed wind turbine to be removed," said Mike Ralph, planning director at Red Property Services, who is representing Neville.

Neville is the co-founder of Sustainability in Sport.
