FIDIC 2009 London

ACE is hosting the FIDIC 2009 conference in London at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre from 13-16 September 2009. Delivering Sustainable Solutions to Global Challenges will will bring together leading international and UK speakers representing clients, industry, government organisations, funding agencies, consultants and engineers.

Global challenges sustainable solutions
We live in an increasingly global society where the solutions to the major infrastructure and development challenges we face must be widely accepted, and above all sustainable, to be effective. As the need for developing and redeveloping towns, cities and urban spaces increases, and as emerging economies race ahead and new markets expand at breakneck speed, the need for well thought out solutions becomes ever more critical.

Step forward consultants and engineers
Whilst scientists explain climate change and the threat to the built and natural environment, it is consultants and engineers who are charged with finding ways to alleviate the effects. In the interconnected economy in which we live, ensuring sustainable solutions will be an international task.

FIDIC 2007 Singapore explored the key factors for successful relationships between partners; FIDIC 2008 Quebec challenged consulting engineers to build a stronger industry that can better serve society. FIDIC 2009 London will define how the sector can take the lead in planning and delivering solutions to the key global challenges facing the world’s infrastructure.

FIDIC 2009 London conference will highlight and raise awareness of the critical contribution that consultants and engineers can make in addressing today’s challenges. Working in close partnership with governments, funding institutions, developers and development agencies, FIDIC 2009 London conference will be the place for leading and shaping debate, and for working together to promote effective, long-term sustainable solutions to the world’s key infrastructure and development challenges.

With an eye to the future, the conference also includes a young professionals’ programme and regional networking events. The FIDIC 2009 conference will generate specific output to be addressed by FIDIC, member firms and the member associations. The business programme takes place at the conference venue, the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre (QEIICC).

Delegates from more than 70 countries will discuss and debate how the consulting engineering industry can take the lead in planning and delivering sustainable solutions to the global challenges facing the world's infrastructure. Interest in the conference is already high, and it is set to be the largest gathering of the sector ever seen in the UK.
