Powys in Wales will soon have four new primary schools and a football clubhouse after a contractor was selected.
Willmott Dixon has just revealed that it has been awarded the £20 million contract, which was procured through the Powys, Ceredigion and Gwynedd local authority framework and awarded by Powys County Council.
Construction is already underway and three of the schools will be finished in August. The fourth, a Welsh language school in Cwmtwrch Isaf, will follow in January 2013.
Timber frames are being used for each of the four new primary schools and it is anticipated that they will all achieve a BREEAM rating of excellent.
Neal Stephens, managing director of Willmott Dixon in Wales, said: "This is a significant project for us to be involved with and one which has involved a great deal of advanced planning and continued communication with all parties."
Also in Wales, a £5 million 41-home development at Treuddyn in Flintshire is set to go ahead after a contractor was found.
