The new Forth Replacement Crossing (FRC) project in Scotland is set to create hundreds of jobs over its lifespan, with over 118 firms having already been awarded sub-contracts.
There are a further 134 up for grabs for firms to provide support to the construction process, which is expected to finish on schedule in 2016.
The FRC is a cable-stayed bridge being erected to the west of the existing Forth Road Bridge. This will stay open to carry public transport, while the new structure will handle all other traffic when it opens.
Cabinet secretary for infrastructure and capital investment Alex Neil says the FRC is a huge boost to the local economy.
He said: "I am delighted to see that local Scottish firms have already benefitted to the tune of £20 million. The project is expected to support over 1,200 new jobs during its construction."
The total estimated cost range of delivering the FRC project is between £1.45 billion and £1.6 billion.
