  EU procurement thresholds to increase from 1 January 2012
 

The financial thresholds at which EU procurement rules apply will increase as of 1 January 2012.

The new thresholds, net of VAT, are:

Public Contracts Regulations 2006 (and Scottish equivalent)

Central government bodies

  • Supplies: €130,000
  • Services: €130,000 (see exceptions below)
  • Works: €5,000,000
Other public sector contracting authorities
  • Supplies: €200,000
  • Services: €200,000
  • Works: €5,000,000
Small lots
  • Supplies: €80,000
  • Services: €80,000
  • Works: €1,000,000
For the following central government services, a threshold of €200,000 applies:
  • Category 8: research and development services
  • Category 5: television and radio broadcast services; interconnection services; integrated telecommunications services
  • Subsidised services contracts under regulation 34

Utilities Contracts Regulations 2006 and Defence and Security Public Contracts Regulations 2011 (and Scottish equivalents)

All sectors
  • Supplies: €400,000
  • Services: €400,000
  • Works: €5,000,000
Small lots
  • Supplies: €80,000
  • Services: €80,000
  • Works: €1,000,000
