The engineering sector has seen a number of key figures honoured in the New Year Honours list as the significant contribution that engineers play in the UK continues to be well recognised.
With delivery of the Olympics on schedule and on budget, John Armitt, chairman of the Olympic Delivery Authority has been awarded a knighthood. His colleague as director of construction, Howard Shiplee, was also awarded a CBE.
