Doug King of King Shaw Associates has won the NCE/ACE Outstanding Achievement Award at a gala lunch at Claridges Hotel in London.
Mr King is a former winner of the ACE Young Consultant of the Year Award, in 2002, the year in which he set up King Shaw Associates. His new company has since gone on to earn an international reputation for high quality engineering design for sustainable buildings. He designed the Innovate Green Office, which achieved the highest BREEAM scoring ever.
Following the announcement, Doug King said: “Engineering is a great profession to be in - full of great talent. That makes me especially pleased to have received this recognition of my work from my engineering peers.”
Along with leading his company, Doug King dedicates time to enhancing skills and knowledge in engineering. He is an advisor to the Ove Arup Foundation educational charity, he sits on the South West Design Review Panel, and he is a member of the validation panels of the validation panels for RIBA, CIBSE and the Energy Institute.
Nelson Ogunshakin OBE, chief executive of the Association for Consultancy and Engineering, said: “Engineers are at the heart of solving the environmental challenges faced in the UK and the across the globe. Doug King is a leading figure in the sustainable design and has shown the extent to which a wide range of needs can be met by environmentally sustainable means. It is my honour to congratulate him on his award and I expect his work will continue to drive change for the future.”
