  Council starts scrubland tender process

Aldenham Parish Council has announced it will be looking for a contractor to develop an area of scrubland in the town of Radlett near Watford, according to a report.

The Watford Observer says that talks with a third party have fallen through and that the council is now hoping to launch a tender process to find a firm to develop the Salters Field and Wellhouse Dell.

The work will involve landscaping, tree planting and, the council hopes, the creation of sports pitches.

Parish clerk Peter Evans said: "We are about a year off from actually advertising the tender as we need to get various planning permissions, though this is a step in the right direction. We see this as a four to five year programme that will ultimately bring the field into recreational use."

The town of Radlett has a population of just over 8,000 people and has previously appeared in the Telegraph's list of the ten richest suburbs in the UK.
