The Shetland Islands Council is looking for a new contractor to complete the remaining 70 per cent of a £2.5 million pier project in Walls.
The council announced yesterday (December 19th) that the previous contract has been terminated after work on the Walls Pier fell behind.
It had been scheduled for completion in February, but so far only 30 per cent has been finished.
Executive manager of Capital Programme Service Robert Sinclair said: "The Council is now looking forward to getting the job finished. We're confident of getting another contractor on board in the near future."
The council says that its priority is now to find a company that can "deliver the pier for the Walls and Shetland communities on budget and without delay".
Walls lies on the south side of Shetland's West Mainland, at the head of Vaila Sound and a regatta is held at the harbour every year.
