Contractor wanted for £40m Liverpool exhibition centre

A contractor is being sought to build a brand new £40 million exhibition centre in Liverpool.

The 8,100 square metre building will be used to stage exhibitions, conferences and concerts and will be located alongside the existing ACC Liverpool at Kings Dock, which is home to the BT Convention Centre and Echo Arena.

It will be owned by Liverpool City Council and managed by the existing ACC Liverpool team.

A partner is also being sought for a planned 200-bed four or five-star hotel.

Bob Prattey, chief executive of ACC Liverpool, said: "Seeking a contractor is the next step in the development of Exhibition Centre Liverpool and we look forward to the opportunity of sharing this journey."

It is hoped a contractor will be on board by September, with works starting in autumn 2013 and completion scheduled for late 2014.

In its first year, the centre will host 50 events for 250,000 visitors.
